Artist, Richard Greene    Richard Greene

Richard is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, and lives and works here. He has an extraordinary drive to produce art that communicates with people.

He graduated with honors from the Ringling School of Art and Design after winning best-of-show in many competition exhibits while in school.

He received special animation training at Walt Disney Studios in Hollywood in the animator development program. He benefited from figure movement studies, acting classes with Al Ruscho, anatomy classes with Dr. Stuart Scimado, and animation lectures with Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, Marc Davis, Ward Kimball, and the fantastic layout man and designer of Fantasia, Ken O'Connor.

As assistant animator with Disney Animation, he worked with the director, head animator, and layout man to draw the character of "Lumiere" in Beauty and the Beast. He also created story boards and character design. The image of the creepy, evil old man that captures Bell's father was from one of his color paintings. He helped animate several characters in Rescuers Down Under.

Richard has done illustration work for Coke, Magnavox, Philco, and many other clients. Recently he designed murals and dioramas for McClung Museum and the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum. In 2004 he helped restore the murals in Blount Mansion in Knoxville.

Since leaving Disney, Richard has pursued fine art and portrait painting in all mediums, but currently is concentrating on work in oil on canvas. His oil paintings are prized by collectors. Village Fine Art is pleased to represent such a versatile artist.
